Harvey was joined by almost half of his squad for the three-day camp in the Kimberley region, and was warmly received when he addressed a Shire of Broome lunch on Wednesday.
The coach said Fremantle was hoping to boost its regional support and also embrace the Kimberley region during its pre-season tour.
"It's a great initiative from the AFL to give something back to the communities and also grass-roots football," Harvey said.
"Over the next three days you'll certainly see the players embrace Broome and what it's all about – particularly the [players] that the kids may look up to – and also having a chat to them about not just football but also life.
"We'll certainly embrace [Broome], spread the word and do as much as we can in this short period of time."
Ibbotson, who spent the day touring local schools, presented the Shire of Broome with a signed jumper as a token of the club's appreciation.
The 20-year-old said it was important for the club to support its regional fans.
"If they're going to be supportive of us we need to do the same," Ibbotson said.
"It's all well and good them supporting the team on TV but it's good for us to come out and see them, give them a chance to meet us and see what we're like as people."
Ibbotson said there was more to the trip than football but, from what he'd gathered so far, said there was plenty of talent in Broome.
"We're not spending a whole lot of time teaching footy. We come up and speak about life and school," he said.
"There's going to be talent everywhere and a lot of the time it'll come down to the attitude of who's playing. So often you see kids who are really good footballers when they're young and they get sidetracked.
"It just depends whether what they feel like doing in their lifetime is football or whether they're going to study or do an apprenticeship or something like that."
Ibbotson said he, and the rest of the touring players, loved visiting regional communities and promoting football and healthy living in the schools.
However, the talented youngster didn't escape without a grilling on Fremantle's finals chances in 2009.
"We've got new coaches and new kids playing [so] it'll take a little bit of time for us to all gel together. But yeah, hopefully, finals would be fantastic," he said.
"Everyone's confident – we've had a big pre-season. It's been pretty hot, we've got new fitness staff over and things have been looking good. Everyone's optimistic."
