While the number 28 has been one of the most populated jumpers at the Club, no player has worn it in 100 matches.
Troy Selwood - who donned the jumper immediately before Karnezis - has come the closest having worn the jumper in 75 matches.
Injuries restricted Selwood’s chance of becoming the first Lions player to feature on the number 28 locker door at the Gabba - an honour which is now up for grabs.
Selwood was on hand to personally present the number 28 guernsey to 19 year-old Oakleigh Chargers draftee Karnezis at the Lions’ Family Fun Day at Etihad Stadium earlier this year.
For the record, Carlton’s Peter Jones holds the AFL record for the most games played in the number 28 guernsey with 249 while Footscray’s Bill Wood has kicked the most goals in that same jumper with 294.
