The Power has appointed former Collingwood sports scientist Dan Comerford to the position of Head Fitness Coach. Dan will replace Darren Burgess, who has joined the Socceroos in a full-time role.

Power General Manager – Football Operations, Peter Rohde said the club was thrilled to acquire someone of Dan’s calibre to the role.

“We’re really happy with the appointment,” Rohde said. “Dan comes to us with a really strong sports science and physical education background and a wealth of experience including seven years with the very professional fitness group at Collingwood.

“Dan’s experience and qualification belies his 26 years of age. He has a great work ethic highlighted by his employment and education record which sees him with two bachelor degrees and about to complete his second masters degree.

“We’re confident Dan is ideally suited to take our club forward and will compliment our existing fitness team.”

Dan has completed two bachelor degrees in Applied Science and Osteopathic Science, a Masters degree in Applied Science and is nearing the competition of his Masters of Business Administration. Dan has been with Collingwood since 2001, most recently as sports scientist, and had experience in basketball, hockey, rugby with the New Zealand All-Blacks. He also has had five years working as an osteopath and lectured in that field.

Dan arrived at the club this week and begins work straight away.
