Ruckman Matthew Leuenberger returns to the unplaced 29-man squad together with livewire forward Todd Banfield who was rested last week. Matt Austin and James Hawksley have made way for the returning pair.
Leuenberger has sat out the Club’s past two pre-season hitouts as he prepares to shoulder the team’s ruck load throughout the 2011 season.
He will be assisted in the ruck this weekend by rookie Broc McCauley while Mitch Clark is set to resume his post up forward.
The most notable absentee from the Lions’ near full-strength side is Captain Jonathan Brown whose preparation has been focussed on being ready for the team’s Round 1 match against Fremantle at the Gabba.
Meanwhile, defender Josh Drummond’s recovery has suffered a setback after he strained a quad at Lions training late last week. Drummond was gunning for a Round 1 return from a hip injury but is now likely to be sidelined for a further four weeks.
