Former Kangaroos chief executive Geoff Walsh has joined Collingwood as the club's chief of football.Walsh will head up Collingwood’s football department and will start in his new position on 13 November 2006.As part of the review of its football department, Collingwood has advised football operations manager Mark Kleiman and Reg Crawford that their service are no longer required.Neil Balme is continuing to work at the club pending further discussion about what future roles he may fulfil at Collingwood.Walsh, formerly a recruiting manager and football manager with Carlton from 1987-94 before joining the Roos, was football manager at Arden St before he became the club's chief executive.This year was his fourth in the chief executive's role.The Kangaroos' search for a new CEO is already underway with chairman Graham Duff declaring the club will pursue leading business administrators from within the corporate sector and sporting industries."We wish Geoff all the best in the future. He has been a great contributor to the North Melbourne Football Club over the past 12 years and leaves us in a very strong position.""Geoff has helped lay the foundations for an exciting future for the football club including the Arden Street redevelopment, expanding the game in South-East Queensland, overseeing the restructure of our business and football operations, while achieving record membership over the past four seasons," Duff said.
