COLLINGWOOD has added 1991 Hawthorn premiership player and former Brisbane Lions assistant coach Paul Hudson to its staff.
Hudson will serve as an assistant (offensive/forwards) to senior coach Mick Malthouse.
He comes to the Magpies after two seasons under Lions triple premiership coach Leigh Matthews, who stepped down at the end of the 2008 season.
A re-structure upon Michael Voss' appointment saw Hudson moved on.
Hudson almost completes Collingwood's coaching structure for 2009, with a development academy manager still to be appointed for Alan Richardson, who is now at Essendon.
Collingwood's coaching structure now consists of Malthouse and assistants Brad Scott (midfield), Mark Neeld (defensive/backs) and Blake Caracella (opposition). Gavin Brown is VFL and development coach.
In 2005 and 2006, Hudson coached Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup and it was in his first year there that he steered Pies Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas, Tyson Goldsack and Brent Macaffer to a premiership.
Hudson's career as a player included 245 matches and 479 goals from 1990 to 2002; 134 games and 264 goals with Hawthorn (1990-96), 108 games and 214 goals with the Western Bulldogs (1997-2001) and three games and one goal with Richmond (2002).
He also finished fifth in the 1991 Brownlow Medal, won the Michael Tuck Medal in 1992, was All-Australian in 1998 and topped the Bulldogs goalkicking in 1998 and 1999.
The son of AFL legend Peter, Hudson will start with Collingwood on Monday, November 3.
