Todd Goldstein's effort as a one-out ruckman in 2011 can't be underestimated and a close look at his season statistics shows just how dominant he's been.

In the final quarter of Sunday's game he eclipsed Gary Dempsey's 28-year old mark of 738 hit-outs, and the number 22 now sits second on the all-time list for taps won in a home and away season.

From 21 games Goldstein racked up 741 hit-outs - an average of more than 35 a game.

If he was played purely as a tap-ruckman it would be a fine achievement, but when you consider he also averaged 13 disposals, four tackles (third at club) and four clearances (fourth at club) it's a terrific all-round performance.

‘Goldy’ can also be classed as one of the game's most athletic ruckman after averaging 89 percent game-time each round (sixth at club) - a figure only topped by the club’s key defenders.

The ultimate recognition may still come with the All-Australian team to be announced in the coming days. He may also take home his first Syd Barker Medal, albeit with some tough competition from the likes of Andrew Swallow, Daniel Wells, Scott Thompson, Drew Petrie, Brent Harvey, Leigh Adams and Jack Ziebell.
