The Official AFL Premiership Cup Memorabilia Lapel Pin can be purchased by supporters to wear throughout the finals series, and to support Ladder - a joint initiative of the AFL Foundation and the AFL Players’ Association which aims to tackle the issue of youth homelessness.
Pin & Win is now in its fourth year, and has so far raised in excess of $60,000 for Ladder. It is hoped this year’s promotion will raise more than $35,000.
By purchasing a pin, supporters will also be in the running to win a share of over $10,000 in prizes, including a 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final events and Crown Promenade accommodation package, 2 AFL Silver Memberships, OPSM ‘Versace’ and ‘Prada’ sunglasses, Sherrin Footballs, Holiday Inn Accommodation and vouchers from Under Armour, AFL Stores and KooGa.
With more than 615,283 fans attending the 2009 AFL Toyota Finals Series, it is hoped that fans will again embrace the 2010 pin and help support Ladder.
AFL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou said the Pin & Win program is a great way for the AFL and football supporters to come together to show support for homeless youth.
“Funds raised will not only help to provide housing through Ladder, but also opportunities to build relationships and gain skills to help transition to a more sustainable way of life.
“We’re asking AFL supporters to get behind the program again this year, and help us reach our program target of $100,000 for homeless youth,” Mr Demetriou said.
Pin & Win ambassador Matthew Lloyd has also thrown his support behind Ladder and encourages all football supporters to wear a pin during the finals and at the same time take home a piece of memorabilia from the 2010 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
“As a past player and now part of the media industry, I’m incredibly proud of the way Australian football can help bring about change in the community.
“Ladder, and the AFL players involved, is providing much needed accommodation and guidance for many young people with histories of homelessness. The proceeds from Pin & Win will assist Ladder as it continues to grow and develop its programs to give young people a pathway to a more stable life,” said Mr. Lloyd.
Pins are available now at AFL Stores, Australia Post outlets, via your Club’s merchandise shop, at selected newsagencies and at each AFL finals game around Australia. Pins retail for $5 and include entry into the prize draw. Visit www.ladder.org.au for additional information.
