Geelong has upgraded James Podsiadly to the senior list, taking the spot of Mitch Brown who is on the long term injury list.

Podsiadly, who was selected by the Cats in the rookie draft after captaining the club’s VFL unit last year, is now eleigible for senior selection until Brown is fit enough to be reinstated.

The 28 year old Podsiadly has played all three pre-season games as a forward.

“James is in the mix for selection and so it was an easy decision to upgrade him,” Geelong’s general manager of football operations Neil Balme said.

“It doesn’t mean he will play this week, but he played all the way through the practice match schedule and if the match committee want him he is available.”

Podsiadly spent 2000 with Essendon and 2002 with Collingwood, but he did not play a senior game for either club.

Brown, Geelong’s first draft pick in 2008, suffered a broken leg during the 2009 pre-season that saw him miss the entire season. He underwent further surgery on his leg in January and isn’t expected back until late April or early May.
