Called to purchase a second ticket, he hesitated briefly, then succumbed. But, as he was shortly heading overseas, he gave his email address for contact.
It was fortunate that he did so. Richard Hattam is the winner of $40,000 cash - the first prize in the raffle, and initial contact was made with him via that same email address to inform him of his win. ‘It was amazing’, he said, after calling the Club to make sure that it was all true.
A lifetime Melbourne supporter, Redlegs member, and player sponsor - including at one time of Club legend David Schwarz - Hattam is delighted with his windfall. Asked if he has any plans for the $40,000, he said ‘Not yet, but I’m sure my wife Denise does!’
