Collingwood defender Heath Shaw was proud of the side’s even contribution from 21 teammates during Friday night’s preliminary final win over Geelong.

Shaw believed the performance typified the team ethos this year.

“As a team we played really good footy,” Shaw told CTV in the MCG directly after the win.??

“We set up well in that first quarter and grinded out the win in the second half. It feels really good.??

“As a group, all 22 players contributed and that’s what you want.”

The 24-year-old credited the win to the extreme pressure his side placed on the Cats for four quarters.

“You don’t expect to kick seven goals to one in the first quarter against a dual premiership team.

“Our pressure was amazing in that first quarter and even in that first half.  That’s what set up the game for us.

“We have set a standard with our pressure this week and hopefully we can continue that next week.”??

“I was really proud of the 22 guys who ran out there.”??

Shaw, who had 20 disposals and used the ball with 95% efficiency, said there is a strong belief within the group as they head into the week leading up until the final Saturday in September.

“Mick said it all year, anyone who comes into the team has to play their role.  Goldsack came in late today and did that.??“We can rely on each other.”
