Braedon, who turns 15 years of age later this year, is from the Singleton Football Club in Aberdeen – two hours north of Newcastle.
The talented youngster also plays in the Northern Heat Under 15 squad who compete in the NSW State Championships and until his signing was also a member of the Swans Academy.
Braedon was identified by David Beauchamp, a Sydney based recruiting consultant for the Western Bulldogs, who recommended him to Western Bulldogs Recruiting Manager Scott Clayton.
Beauchamp will continue to play a pivotal role in Braedon’s development and will provide continual feedback to the Club on his progress.
Standing at 185cm and 65kg, Clayton describes Braedon as a hard running, marking midfielder with an exciting future ahead of him.
But while Clayton acknowledges Braedon’s football ability, he says the youngsters character and desire to get the best out of himself are equally important qualities.
“He is a very mature young man who has a great work ethic. His resolve to improve and his strong desire be the best player he can possibility be is very refreshing for someone his age and are qualities that we as a football club find very appealing,” said Clayton.
Making Braedon’s signing even more impressive is his short time involved in the game, only taking up football two years ago having come from a soccer and cross-country running background.
Braedon’s scholarship contract is for three years, with the scholarship program allowing the Bulldogs to select the youngster as their final draft selection when he becomes eligible for the national draft.
