Monday 14 November
Eora Creek to Mt Bellamy

Group 2 (players):
Day one of the trek and the playing group woke early and left the comfort of the Crowne Plaza and headed off to the airport to catch their charter flights.

Due to the weather there were delays until mid-morning but the boys kept themselves amused with playing cards.

The delay will bring them into their night location quite late - with their first overnight stop on-location scheduled to be Isurava Village.

Group 1: Day three on the track and all reports are that the group is going extremely well.

Today the trekkers left Alola and made their way to Eora Creek where they walked through the low-lying clouds.

It was here at Eora Creek that the Australian soldiers were chased by the Japanese all the way back to the creek line. The Australians held this position for a few days and then withdrew back and implemented the fighting withdrawal.

From the creek line they made their way up a sharp incline past foxholes from some 70 years ago that are clearly evident today.

Tonight the travel party will make camp just below the base of Mt Bellamy (Templeton’s Crossing one), which will be the coldest night on the track.

The track is muddy and is making the trekking very heavy going.

The group is physically exhausted after each day of trekking and are often asleep once their heads hit the pillow each night.

Stay posted to hawthornfc.com.au for daily updates from the track
