Hawthorn has secured talented utility Jack Gunston from Adelaide Crows in exchange for selection No. 24 in the 2012 National Draft.

Part of the deal also includes the shuffling of some later draft picks, in which Hawthorn receives picks 53 and 71, trading selections No.46 and No.64 to Adelaide.

19 year old Gunston was drafted to the Crows at selection No.29 in the 2009 AFL Draft and made his debut in Round 9, 2010 against Brisbane Lions.

Hawthorn’s General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans said the talented youngster is a great addition to the Hawthorn list.

“Jack has showed some promise in his two years at the Crows and we’re confident he’ll develop into a valuable player at the Hawks,” Evans said.

“He is an exciting prospect who is capable of playing at both ends of the ground and he will add greatly to our side’s depth and flexibility.”

Standing at 193cm and weighing 81kg, Gunston was recruited from Sandringham Dragons and has played a total of 14 AFL games.
