FREMANTLE have consigned Carlton to consecutive hidings with a 77-pointwin at Subiaco Oval on Saturday afternoon, 27.11 (173) to 13.18 (96).

The shell-shocked Blues will wonder what happened after quarter-time, when they  took a seven-point lead in to the first break. But Freo's 14 goals to threein the second and third terms finished the game as a contest.

For the Blues, Ross Young was the standout with twofirst-quarter goals and a strong win over Scott Thornton in limitedopportunities forward, while acting skipper Jarrad Waite was much better afterhalf-time with five goals, including four in the last quarter.

Andrew Carrazzo shut down Shaun McManus, Kade Simpsondid well on the Carrs, while Adam Bentick, Setanta O'hAilpin and Marc Murphy battledhard.

Early in the first term, the Blues were unable to get theirhands on the ball, and Fremantle kicked three in nine minutes, but after theteams swapped behinds, the quarter turned dramatically.

First Matthew Lappin and then Young got goals with snaps fromnot far outside the goal-square, but Jeff Farmer - who finished with four and was shadowed by Bryce Gibbs all day - quickly replied in his first game of the season.

But the Blues made the most of time-on – Young got hissecond after getting his toe to it in the goal-square, then Setanta O'hAilpinmarked at the top of the square, played-on and goaled.

Their third in sixminutes came when Adam Bentick was paid a free in the centre-square, and thenhad a 50-metre penalty added to it, and Carltontook a deserved seven-point lead to the first break.

The second term started in similar fashion to the first, butthe first term's fightback didn't eventuate. Not only did the Dockers kickthe first three, they added a couple to that before Adam Hartlett picked it upin the square and kicked his first goal in AFL football, pegging Fremantle's lead to a manageable25 points at the half.

The third term followed a familiar pattern, with a Fremantlegoal in the first minute after Dean Solomon took a mark under no pressure just25 metres out, and Fremantle then kicked another four before Brad Fisher markedat the top of the square and goaled.

Freo then added three before a 50-metre penaltyon the siren got Waite to 25 metres and he converted, but the Dockers led by 57points.

The final term started as per the others, with Fremantlekicking the first four majors, before a goal to Fevola from the goal square andanother to Waite from 15 metres gave the Blues consecutive goals for the firsttime since the first term.

Freo then got another couple before Waite addedanother triplet of his own to finish with five for the match.
