The Swans Reserves remain undefeated in the AFL Canberra season after a 44-point win over Eastlake at the SCG on Sunday, with Heath Grundy the standout kicking six goals.

The Swans were 22-points in front at quarter time after goals from James Wall, Josh Willoughby, Stephen Doyle, Grundy (two goals), Tim Schmidt and Simon Phillips.

By half time the Swans had extended their lead to 30 points with Grundy, Adam Prior and Wall all kicking goals and only allowing Eastlake to kick two.

Grundy, in his second year at the club after being drafted from Norwood (South Australia) in the 2004 rookie draft, kicked his final three goals in the third quarter and with goals also to Luke Vogels and Prior, Eastlake slipped further behind.

Eastlake drew within five goals of the Swans by the 10 minute mark of the last quarter after kicking two goals although Vogels opened the term with one for the Swans.

Prior kicked his third goal six minutes later and Vogels kicked two, his third and fourth for the game, to bring the margin to the final 44 points.

David Spriggs and Vogels joined Grundy in the Swans’ best, along with Schmidt, Sean Dempster and Willoughby.

Spriggs, Schmidt and Willoughby played in the midfield while Grundy was at full forward and Vogels played at centre half back and centre half forward. Sean Dempster played at half back.

Doyle and Jarred Moore were on the Swans’ casualties list; Doyle injuring his hamstring after a good first half and Moore leaving the ground in the second quarter with a thumb injury.

The Swans Reserves take on Weston Creek at Telstra Stadium at 3.50pm at Telstra Stadium as the curtain raiser to the Swans vs. Geelong game.
