The 22-year-old was injured during a curtain-raiser match before Saturday night's NAB Challenge clash between the Brisbane Lions and Collingwood at Carrara. Brisbane coach Leigh Matthews later said the news wasn't good for Hadley, who appears set to undergo another knee reconstruction.
"The poor bugger," Matthews said. "It's been 12 months (since he initially damaged his knee)."
Brisbane paid a heavy price for its 14.15 (99) to 12.10 (82) win over Collingwood in Saturday night's match at Carrara Stadium with star midfielder Nigel Lappin suffering an ankle injury.
Matthews said Lappin's ankle was not broken and the club's medical staff was hoping it was only a minor injury.
"No one knows quite yet," Matthews said.
"They're a little optimistic. They're hoping it might be relatively short-term but it's all guess work until they work out exactly what's happened and how it reacts.
"He'll have x-rays to determine if there's any damage that you can't see."
The injuries took the gloss off an impressive Lions display.
Mal Michael was outstanding in defence, Jonathan Brown booted three goals and workaholic midfielder Simon Black was best on ground.
Dale Thomas, who came off the field briefly after being kneed in the ribs by Daniel Bradshaw, was one of the best for Collingwood.
The Pies held a handy 18-point lead at quarter-time after elusive forward Alan Didak booted a remarkable five goals in the opening stanza, including three consecutive goals in as many minutes.
But it was a horror quarter for the Lions, who lost Lappin late in the term. He was assisted from the field and watched the rest of the match on crutches.
Brisbane dominated the second quarter, scoring five goals to Collingwood's two as Brown began to leave his imprint on the game.
The teams traded goals in the third quarter, with the Lions holding a two-point edge at the final break.
Brisbane led by eight points early in the final quarter when Beau McDonald, playing his first match since 2003 following a series of problems with his knee, booted a goal to the delight of the fans.
The Lions kicked three straight goals midway through the final quarter to skip to a 20-point lead to shut the gate on Collingwood.
Chris Tarrant and Scott Burns were late scratchings for the Magpies, played in front of a 10,117-strong crowd.
Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse sprung a surprise by playing star midfielder Nathan Buckley in the back pocket.
Malthouse said he was happy to be leaving the Gold Coast without any injuries.
"Tonight was just to get the players through, get back to Melbourne, assess where we're at and then make decisions," Malthouse said.
