COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
(PaCE Coordinator) APY Lands

Full-time, 2 year term

The SANFL is the premier State League and governing body for Australian Football in South Australia. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the SANFL APY Lands Programs Unit in delivering a range of sporting and well-being programs to APY Lands communities.

The Role
The Community Engagement Coordinator will be pivotal in the development and implementation of strategies and programs in APY Lands communities that will aim to increase the support and participation of parents and carers in their children’s education, leading to an increased awareness of the impact of education in acquiring skills to improve well-being and employability. The programs will be run in partnership with the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR), and will link with existing SANFL programs conducted in the APY Lands.

The Parental and Community Engagement (PaCE) concept is a successful national model that has been used across Australia, focussing on outcomes to better engage Aboriginal families in a range of positive lifestyle activities. State based PaCE programs are unique, as they are developed by each State/Territory in consultation with local Aboriginal communities.

Key Performance Indicators have been established by DEEWR for this project, including targets for a range of workshops, events, participants and success rates required for greater parental/caregiver engagement in children’s education on the APY Lands.

The position could be based at the SANFL offices at West Lakes (Adelaide), in the APY Lands, or in the central location of Port Augusta.

The Role Requirements
Success in this role will be reliant on your ability to engage with a diverse range of people across government departments and agencies, APY Lands schools and the community. You will have experience working with Aboriginal people, organisations and communities and a strong knowledge of Aboriginal society, culture, education, health and well-being issues.

You will also have the ability to identify performance outcomes, plan strategies and actions and set priorities to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and / or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

The position requires travel to the APY Lands, on at least 10 occasions each year and occasional out of hours work.
