The moment: Shannon Byrnes reminded everyone on Friday night he shouldn’t be forgotten when h pushed hard up against the boundary line and when seemingly out of options, took the only one available - throwing boot to ball and watching the ball squeeze past the outstretched hands of Chris Judd and between the goals.

2. St Kilda 17.13 (115) d Richmond 14.10 (94) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: With a good run at the pack Brendon Goddard eyed Tiger Jack Riewoldt and teammate Sam Fisher and set his sights on the Sherrin - and perhaps mark of the year. His second-term speccy sent a roar through Etihad Stadium. Riewoldt was shrewd enough to get out of the way and avoid a knee to the head, Fisher wasn’t so lucky.

3. Hawthorn 24.11 (155) d Fremantle 5.9 (39) at Aurora Stadium

The moment: The crunch was always on at Aurora Stadium. Fremantle's skeleton crew arrived in Tassie with pundits and punters alike expecting a big Hawks win. Hawthorn talisman Luke Hodge obviously wanted to make his intentions clear, flying off the bench to crunch defender Garrick Ibbotson midway through the first term. Ibbotson didn't see him coming and Hodge didn't miss!

4. Collingwood 6.18 (54) d Adelaide 7.9 (51) at the MCG

The moment: Steele Sidebottom thrives in the thick of the action. With the game in the balance, an ugly maul of players developed deep in the Pies' forward line. Under extreme heat from his Adelaide opponents, Sidebottom managed to keep his feet and dish a slick handball off the deck to Alan Didak, who finished off in sublime style.

5. Sydney Swans 17.12 (114) d Western Bulldogs 10.10 (70) at the SCG
Game analyser - watch the moment or the full replay
The moment: It was a night of magic at the SCG as Brett Kirk and Paul Roos were farewelled in style, but Jude Bolton's third quarter snap had to be seen to be believed. Seemingly missing by a wide-margin it turned on a right angle similar to Shane Warne's ball of the century and made it through for six points.

6. Port Adelaide 17.12 (112) d Melbourne 11.17 (83) at AAMI Stadium
Game analyser - watch the moment or the full replay
The moment: Liam Jurrah may have snatched mark of the year out of Brendon Goddard's grasp within a 24-hour period. A long bomb from Brent Moloney set the stage for Jurrah to jump, and he didn’t disappoint. He flew right over Jack Watts and Nick Salter to take what could most certainly be the mark of the year for 2010.

7. Brisbane Lions 14.11 (95) d Essendon 10.8 (68) at Etihad Stadium
Game analyser - watch the moment or the full replay
The moment: Troy Selwood and Kyle Hardingham were charging flat out at the ball on the wing. Selwood got his arms out to tackle, which meant that when Hardingham jumped to tap the ball on, Selwood was completely unprotected and took the hit right down the centre. After being helped off the ground, he wound up in hospital with a cracked sternum.

8. North Melbourne 16.14 (110) d West Coast 14.10 (94) at Subiaco Oval

The moment: Ben Warren was alone inside the forward 50 with opponent Ashley Smith and Aaron Edwards did well to kick the ball in and allow Warren to run onto it. He had no trouble losing Smith, but didn’t have the same luck with the behind post as he ran straight into it. He did bounce back up, though, and managed to snap the goal.
