Scully won this week's nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star award on the back of a 39-possession game against the Western Bulldogs, which included a blazing 18-touch final term.
After playing all seven matches so far this year, Scully said he was happy with the way he'd adapted to life in the AFL.
"I suppose I've made a reasonable transition to AFL footy," he said at the Junction Oval on Tuesday.
"Obviously I didn't have too high expectations leading into the year, I just wanted to put my name up for selection early on in the year, and Dean [Bailey] and the coaching staff were good enough to give me an opportunity.
"For the first couple of rounds it's just been about getting the pace of the game and making that transition as quick as I can.
"I've had a lot of help from the coaches and the players, but it's just a learning experience, and I'm learning new roles every week and really enjoying it."
But despite the increasing amount of hype surrounding the first draft pick each year, the 18-year-old said he was just another squad member at the Demons.
"That's all external pressure, and internally at the club there's been no extra pressure - I'm the same as any other new player who's been drafted to the club, and you've had to earn your right to play in the senior team, and earn the respect of the players and the coaching staff.
"It's not something that motivates me - I'm just motivated to play good footy and play good team footy.
"Dean gives me a role to play every week, and I just try to carry that out to the best of my ability.
"I'm really enjoying playing senior footy, and I'm learning new things every week, and just trying to develop."
