Lions Assistant Coach Jade Rawlings filled in for Senior Coach Michael Voss today and fronted the media at the launch of the BOQ #1 Lions Fan Search at the Gabba.

Rawlings on the BOQ #1 Lions Fan Search launch

“The Lions fans have remained quite enthusiastic this season. They obviously want to see us win and unfortunately, that’s not happening at the moment.”

“Even when the players are struggling, it’s great to hear that our fans still have faith in them.”

“We’re going through a pretty rough patch on the field, but it’s good to see a great amount of young people out here at the Gabba today for the Junior Members Footy Clinic to support the Club.”

Rawlings on Brendan Fevola and Jonathan Brown’s fitness

“Fevola will be tested this week. He trained yesterday at a reasonable level so we expect him to train again tomorrow and we’ll probably make a judgement after that.”

“Brown - as has been well documented - is probably going to be back for the Hawthorn game in Tassie. He’s up to a high level of running speed and endurance so hopefully we see him back then.”

Rawlings on the season’s future

“It would be negligent of us to look beyond this week. I really don’t think we’re in a position to be looking at the long-term views on whether we’re going to make Finals or not.”

“We need to isolate our focus on how we’re going to combat the Saints this week. I watched them play yesterday and they are looking pretty slick.”
