Formed by Mick Thomas in late 1984, Weddings, Parties, Anything released a mammoth seven albums between 1987 and 1996, with most of the material written by Thomas. The band won two ARIA Awards during this time and toured the globe relentlessly - in some years spending more time on the road than not - and gained fans in places such as Canada and America. Their biggest hits were "Father's Day" and "Monday's Experts”, with the latter becoming the soundtrack for Talking Footy on the Channel 7 network for many years and becoming synonymous with the show.
Following the demise of WPA in 1999, Thomas’ solo career saw him continuing to play to adoring audiences, before he teamed with a new band, The Sure Thing, who recently launched a Monthly Music Club subscription service through their website, bypassing the traditional route of CD release in favour of embracing the digital age.
Thomas is also an accomplished playwright, as well as a well known and accomplished music producer and engineer. He has been a mentor for many in the Australian music scene, especially in his home town of Melbourne. Alongside Paul Kelly, he is oft regarded as one of Australia's greatest songwriters.
