Ameet comes to the Club after having spent the last five years at Toyota Australia in an extensive strategy and personnel management role, providing strategic advice to all divisions of the company. He has had widespread experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts including manufacturing, purchasing, distribution/franchising, supply, service, employment and sponsorship agreements.
Possessing an innate sponsorship understanding, Ameet’s contribution to the sporting industry has been significant. He has been instrumental in helping secure vital sponsorships, which includes naming rights sponsor of the AFL, major sponsor of both the NRL and ARU (and member Clubs and players of the AFL, NRL and ARU), the Australian Paralympic Committee, various motor sport entities and various Australian identities and events.
St Kilda CEO Michael Nettlefold said, “We believe Ameet is a really strong appointment as General Manager Player List. He has a professional background in dealing with player sponsorships and sporting sponsorships in general.
The TPP role has clearly become more technical since the introduction of the two new AFL teams. As a consequence there is a growing trend across the AFL with recent appointments in Brisbane and West Coast to appoint people in these positions with legal backgrounds.”
Ameet has only recently retired after a 230 VAFA career with the Old Melburnians and Monash Blues. He will commence with the Saints on Monday 31st January.
