Davis, 30, misses his first match since round two this year and has been widely regarded to be in All Australian contention in his revitalised position as a defender.
Simon Buckley has been named as the replacement with the former Demon set to play his 13th game this season. Buckley returns to the side after he was omitted last week and has served as a valuable role player for the club averaging 19.1 disposals and 4.2 marks per game.
John McCarthy replaces Buckley as the emergency and joins Cameron Wood and Luke Rounds.
Collingwood heads into Saturday night's match with five changes to the side which handed St Kilda its first loss in seven matches last Friday night.
