RUCKMAN Shane Mumford passed a fitness test at training on Friday afternoon and will take his place in the side for the eliminational final against Carlton on Sunday afternoon.

The Swans will also be bolstered by the return of dashing half-back Tadhg Kennelly and NAB AFL Rising Star winner, Dan Hannebery, who both trained well.

Brett Meredith, who has a slight hip injury, is missing from last week's side that beat Brisbane, along with unlucky youngsters Gary Rohan and Sam Reid, who have made way for the returning players.

Senior coach Paul Roos said Mumford, who suffered a slight medial strain against the Western Bulldogs in Round 21, did all he needed to.

"We know we can play Mumford forward if we have to, and in the ruck, and we have Jesse who can cover in the ruck,''  Roos said.

"All along we thought Shane would be back for the first week of the finals. He has followed the program and we’re confident he’ll be fine.''

Hannebery, who had hamstring tightness, and Kennelly (knee soreness) completed the full training session and look primed for their return.

Mumford, who was traded from Geelong last year, and Hannebery will play in their first AFL final on Sunday.

The Swans meet Carlton at ANZ Stadium at 2.40pm this Sunday, September 5.
