FORMER Fremantle midfielder Josh Carr has issued a warning to any clubs plotting to foil his plan of getting back to Port Adelaide in December's NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft, declaring he will remain in Adelaide regardless of which club selects him.
Carr was last week delisted by Fremantle after expressing a desire to return to the Power, where he won a premiership in 2004.
The 28-year-old, who has been granted permission from the AFL to train with Port Adelaide, has already purchased a house in the western suburbs of Adelaide with his fiancé Karolina.
"I’ll see what happens, but my intention is to live in Adelaide whether someone picks me up or not. I’ll be living here and if they (another club) are happy for me to play from Adelaide, then go for it (draft me)," Carr said.
"At the moment I’m just training with the club (Port Adelaide) and I think they’re happy to have me here training.
"We’ll wait and see what happens in a few weeks' time in the draft."
Carr, who played 105 games for the Power before seeking a trade to Fremantle at the end of 2004, joined the squad for training on Wednesday and said it was good to be back.
"I’ve been away for a few years so it was a good opportunity, being out of contract, for me to come down here and train," he said. "It’s good to see a few old faces as well as a few new ones.
"It was weird to be back at the club after being out for four years, but after a few days it all feels pretty normal again.
"Now I’m looking forward to the next few weeks and a hard pre-season."
The West Australian said the decision to leave Fremantle and return to Adelaide was a 'life' one.
"I never really thought about it (coming back to Port Adelaide) until towards the end of the season when I spoke to my fiancé," Carr said.
"We sat down and talked about what we wanted to do in the next three, four or five years. Adelaide was where we wanted to be, so that’s the reason we came back.
"When I went back to Perth [in late 2004], I went back to play with my brother [Matthew] and I never really spoke to my girlfriend, at the time, about what our plans together were.
"I made the decision and didn’t really talk to her about it. This decision was all about us and what we wanted to do. She [Karolina] is an Adelaide girl.
"I enjoyed my time here. I absolutely love Adelaide and it's a great place to live."
