Paul Roos has advised the Sydney Swans Board that he will not extend his tenure as Senior Coach beyond season 2010. The Board understands Paul's position and is fully supportive of his decision.

The Board extended an invitation to John Longmire, currently Coaching Coordinator, to become Senior Coach from the end of season 2010 for an initial two-year term.

The Board is delighted that John has accepted. John has been a part of the Swans coaching panel since 2002.

The Board is also pleased to announce that, following the recent announcement that Myles Baron-Hay would be stepping down at the end of the season, Andrew Ireland has been appointed CEO from September 14, 2009.  Myles will remain as a consultant to Andrew and the Board until October 31.

Andrew Ireland has been head of the Football Department at the Swans since 2002, and prior to that was CEO at the Brisbane Lions (Bears) for twelve years, from 1990 to 2001. He brings a wealth of industry experience to the Club which is entering a key phase following a period of sustained success.

The Club can also advise that it is well advanced in its search for a replacement for Andrew as the head of the Football Department.

As Paul has indicated his very strong desire to stay involved with the Club beyond 2010 - particularly in the areas of talent identification and player development - Andrew has been charged with working with Paul to fine tune this role.
