On Thursday 9th August LeasePlan Western Bulldogs ruckman Peter Street took time away from his training schedule to witness first hand the tireless work undertaken by the participants of SpiritWest Services Warehousing International Needs (W.I.N.) program.
In conjunction with Mission Australia, the W.I.N. program runs twice a week, with SpiritWest Services Work for the Dole participants working alongside other volunteers to collect, sort and package donated goods which are then shipped to needy communities all over the world.
To date over 210 containers of goods valued at just under $11 million dollars has been packaged by the W.I.N. program and then distributed worldwide.
The Work for the Dole program is designed to not only to provide a work experience program for the unemployed, but also aims to help the local community, and in this case also helping international communities.
Since 2002 SpiritWest Services has helped over 800 unemployed participates of the Work for the Dole program re-enter the workforce.
For further enquiries about the Work for the Dole program please contact David van Wynen on 1300 GO DOGS (46 3647) or e-mail david.vanwynen@westernbulldogs.com.au
