THE WESTERN Bulldogs expect to reach a resolution with outspoken veteran Jason Akermanis by mid-afternoon on Tuesday.

Akermanis, 33, is holding talks with the club regarding his media commitments.

On Tuesday morning, he argued on radio station MTR - where he has a daily contract - that he could balance both his footballing career and media aspirations.

"I can do this (radio) as well [as play football], I can do columns, I've been doing that for years, there's nothing out of the ordinary there," he said.

"Getting my form back is all in front of me … I have to play a lot better than I have been."

In admitting that the club would prefer he hadn't upheld obligations to his MTR contract, he said he expected to continue his segment on Wednesday.

"I am here because I am a contracted employee of this station and I am a contracted footballer and it doesn't affect my football," he said.

"Apparently there's a deadline today so I have to go and talk to them."

Despite pressure to hold his spot, Akermanis could miss Sunday's clash with Collingwood with a hamstring injury.

The decision on Akermanis' short-term future follows his revelation he was entirely responsible for his recent News Limited column suggesting gay footballers should stay in the closet.

Late last week, Bulldogs general manager of football operations James Fantasia highlighted the club's frustrations with Akermanis.

"When these things happen, it's always disappointing because you deal with what's in front of you," he said.

"Then you find out there were other circumstances and it's something we need to think about."

He also refused to rule out any club-imposed sanctions for the Brownlow Medallist.
