Fremantle will have a strong presence in week one of the WAFL finals this Sunday when Subiaco and Claremont lock horns and South Fremantle and East Perth square off.

Byron Schammer and Andrew Browne will be in action for the Tigers at Claremont Oval as the hosts look to replicate their Round 20 win over the Lions to secure a spot in the Grand Final on Sunday 23 September.

After succumbing to Subiaco in Round 1 by 47 points without the services of Browne and Schammer, and again in Round 10 by six points without Browne, Claremont claimed their first victory of the season over the Lions in Round 20 by 38 points. With restricted game time, Browne collected 26 possessions and six marks through the midfield to be named in their best players.

Former Fremantle player, current Corporate Sales Account Manager and Claremont ruckman Daniel Bandy said the Tigers line up would be strengthened with the return of Schammer and Browne.

“Byron and Andrew have both had injury interrupted seasons for the most part but they have both hit peak form and fitness at the right time of the year for us,” Bandy said.

“It is always a huge bonus to have AFL players come back into the line up and with these blokes both coming off last weekend’s game against Port Adelaide I’m sure they will be primed for big games on Sunday.”

Subiaco will also be spoilt for choice following Fremantle retiree Shane Parker returning for the Lions’ reserves last weekend after overcoming a nagging hamstring injury. His experience will be a more than a handy addition to Subiaco’s backline to help contain Tigers spearhead forward and former Fremantle player Anthony Jones. Jones ended the 2007 WAFL season runner up behind Subiaco's Brad Smith as the leagues leading goalkicker with 65.

Fremantle rookie Darren Rumble also returned to the Lions’ league line up last week after a month out of the side with a hamstring injury and put in a solid performance.

South Fremantle pair Ryan Murphy and Paul Duffield will be in action for the Bulldogs at Fremantle Oval on Sunday against East Perth.

The Bulldogs have taken the points in both matches against the Royals this season to the tune of five goals in both clashes.

Fremantle rookie Benet Copping is also in contention to feature in the match for the Royals after strong showings through the midfield in their reserves side in recent weeks.
