Hampson and Bradley collided during the second quarter of Saturday's exhibition match in South Africa.
The panel said the players made contact when Bradley went in low to contest the ball. Hampson, who was committed to the contest, also went in low and turned and bumped Bradley.
Contact was made to the left side of Bradley's body, and was not made from front-on. Although there may have been incidental contact between Hanson's upper arm and Bradley's head, the majority of the contact was to the hip/rib region during the bumping action. Unfortunately, Bradley's head made solid contact with the ground and he did not take any further part in the game, the panel said.
Hampson's action was not deemed reportable because:
- the degree of force applied by Hanson was not deemed excessive;
- both players were actively involved in the play;
- Hampson's elbow was not used during the bumping action;
- Hampson did not leave the ground during the bumping action;
- Bradley was in a position to protect himself as he slid in to contest the ball, and did so by turning side-on.
