Hawthorn’s agreement to continue playing home games in Tasmania for the next five years has the club’s playing list excited, according to ruckman Brent Renouf.
The big Hawk says the team has been embraced by the Tasmanian community, and always looks forward to running out at Launceston’s Aurora Stadium.
“It’s one of the best, if not the best, surfaces to play on in the League and it’s definitely a great place to go and play,” Renouf said.
“The boys have a good relationship with the people down there. We always try and get the win for them and make it a real home away from home.”
The Hawks will head to Tasmania for the Telstra AFL Community Camp from 1-4 February, with players splitting into five groups and conducting activities across the state.
“All the boys are looking forward to getting down there,” Renouf said. “Think we might be having a bit of a hit-out as well, so we’re all pretty excited about it.”
Hawthorn signed a new deal with the Tasmanian government in November that will see the club playing four home matches a year in Launceston until at least 2016.
