Speaking to collingwoodfc.com.au on Wednesday, Maxwell was adamant that his efforts are directed on doing what’s best for the club to secure its 16th premiership flag.
“This is not about me,” Maxwell said from the Westpac Centre.
“For our footy club we are focused on going back-to-back, and at the moment we are on top of the ladder.”
Collingwood has only dropped one match this year and boasts a percentage of 182.79, a league best.
If the club achieves ultimate success in 2011, it will be the first time since Jock McHale's men in the 1935 and 1936 seasons that a Magpie side has won consecutive premierships.
“We have plenty of guys who are putting their hand up to stand up. We have debutants who have played their role and have got the job done.
“I am expecting us to go about our business and have the success we had last year.
“It’s all before us.”
