This is an exclusive event for Shinboner Club members who will sit with and hear from the heroes of that year, the men who shed blood, sweat and tears in the pursuit of glory and in the agony of defeat. To hear what they heard, see what they saw and to feel what they felt, every step of the way.
To mark the occasion the club has commissioned a portrait by Archibald Prize entrant Eileen Mason of long-serving Chairman and football media pioneer Ron Casey. The painting depicts a famous image of an emotional Casey admiring the cup the day after the 1996 Grand Final, originally captured by veteran Herald Sun photographer Peter Ward. The canvass is unframed and is 122cm wide x 150cm long.
The painting will be auctioned on the night, however, subject to conditions, bids confirmed in writing and phone bids will be accepted from those who register in advance.
