On Tuesday 6 April, around 25 MPNFL “Young Guns” were given the exciting opportunity to take part in a training session under the guidance of Melbourne midfielder Nathan Jones, and young backman James Frawley at Casey Fields.
The 25 “Young Guns” were put through their paces during activities that focused mainly on skill development, with the session being based on drills that Nathan and James would normally take part in during a typical MFC session.
The “Young Guns” initiative, being undertaken in conjunction with the MPNFL, is aimed at rewarding young Under 18s players from the MPNFL who show signs of leadership, excellent skills, awareness, and good sportsmanship.
The opportunity to be trained by two experienced Melbourne players, and receive feedback from them, assists with the “Young Guns” player development, and gives a insight as to what training as an AFL footballer is like.
Congratulations to all “Young Guns” who took part in the session.
