SYDNEY ruckman Kurt Tippett has dispelled any doubts about his fitness for Saturday week's elimination final against Essendon at the SCG.
Tippett was forced from the field in the opening quarter of the Swans' 81-point win over Carlton last week, and although he returned to the action just before after half-time, he subsequently played little part in the second half.
Fellow ruckman Callum Sinclair suffered the same fate in the second term, with both big men receiving treatment in the Sydney change rooms side by side at one stage.
The pair both sat out of the team's training session on Thursday morning, but Tippett said he'd be right to face the Bombers.
"It's recovering well, its something that's unfortunately been around most of the year – I've hurt it a couple of times – so I certainly know what I need to do it right," he said.
"It was a bit of a shock at the time, but I'm pretty confident in the fact that my ankle will be good enough to play.
"The bye week has helped and come at a good time to give me a little bit of extra time to get it right."
The injury came at a bad time for the 30-year-old, who had churned out a solid month of footy after recovering from a couple of separate injuries to the same ankle.
Tippett has played just nine games this season after first rolling his left ankle against the Western Bulldogs in round two, and while he made it back and managed to play with the problem, he struggled for form.
The athletic tall was dropped after the loss to Hawthorn in round 10 and the Swans decided to spell him to get his body right, a decision he admits should have been made quicker.
"I guess in hindsight you might have taken that time (off) a bit earlier to strengthen it up, but you always want to play," he said.
"You're busting to get out there as quick as you can, so it's just one of those things.
"It's been a challenge and there's been a few ups and downs, but you can't complain – there's players who have it worse than me, and would love to be in this position right now.
"You ride the rollercoaster of the season, and now we're here at the start of the finals. It's the most exciting time in footy."
The Swans expect both Tippett and Sinclair to be right to play against Essendon, with Sam Naismith waiting in the wings if one of them doesn't get up.
Naismith will play in Sydney's NEAFL final against Gold Coast on Saturday in a bid to press his case for a recall after missing the past four games with a hip problem.
