AFTER a sensational performance kicking 10 goals in Richmond's second win for the year, Jack Riewoldt was doing his best to make sure he shared the plaudits for Sunday's 49-point win against the West Coast Eagles at the MCG.

In a career best haul for the Richmond forward, Riewoldt became the first player to kick 10 goals in a match since Brisbane Lions spearhead Jonathan Brown kicked 10.1 against Carlton in round 16, 2007.

He also joined Matthew Richardson (2004), Jeff Hogg (1991) and Brian Taylor (1982) as the only three Richmond players to kick 10 goals at the MCG.

With three minutes left in Sunday's game Riewoldt marked close to the boundary and from 25 metres out on a tough angle, steered home his 10th goal of the match to spark delirious celebrations for both the Richmond players and supporters.

“It was a great feeling. That is what we are about at the club, we are one team here,” he said.

“There are 22 guys out there on a Saturday or a Sunday working hard to get a result and I think that symbolises what we are as a group at the moment.”

“I was just lucky enough to get on the end of a few today.”

He may have kicked five goals in the opening term, but it was the midfielders that stole the show in the first quarter, according to the 21 year-old.

“Dustin Martin had 14 touches in the first quarter which was sensational [and] Trent Cotchin was leading from the front,” he said.

“It was good to get on the end of a few early and we continued our dominance in the middle which was sensational.”

Riewoldt finished the match with 19 possessions and nine marks - seven of which were contested - for a return of 10.3 in a performance that had the Tiger forward confident his side was heading in the right direction.

“I’m just happy we’ve had our second win of the year and happy that our game-plan is coming together well,” Riewoldt said.

“At the moment, we’re really good at backing our key forwards in one-on-one contests. It was really good to get on the end of a few and I was happy that I kicked straight.”

Riewoldt said the clash against the struggling Brisbane Lions next Saturday night at the Gabba will be a real test for the Tigers in their bid to make it three wins from their past four matches.

“We are going into a hostile environment next week and a team that is pushing for finals,” he said.

“We are going to have to bring our A-game if we are going to take it up to them.”
