Dual winner Gary Ablett and Hawthorn champion Sam Mitchell both finished the night on 220 career votes – a mark that gives them the most adjusted votes in the history of the Medal. The mark was previously held by Gary Dempsey (218.5). Ablett polled six votes on the night, while Mitchell polled 16.

Patrick Dangerfield grabbed the three votes from the umpires in nine games, a record he now holds alongside 2015 winner Nat Fyfe and 1994 winner Greg Williams.

Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane finished with the most votes for an ineligible player. Sloane, who was unofficially fourth behind Dangerfield, Parker and Martin, was ruled out after accepting a one-match ban for rough conduct on Port Adelaide's Brad Ebert in round 22.

16
The number of GWS players that polled votes. No other team had more players polling, although North Melbourne, West Coast and the Western Bulldogs all got close with 14 players. Stephen Coniglio (17) and Callan Ward (12) were the only Giants in double figures.

The Brisbane Lions had a horror season, barely avoiding the wooden spoon, but their tally of just 20 total votes was far and away the worst of any team. Essendon (36) and Fremantle (45) also had seasons they'd rather forget, but easily outstripped the Lions. Tom Rockliff (nine), Dayne Zorko (five), Pearce Hanley (three) and Mitch Robinson (three) were the only players that polled votes.

186
The number of games Geelong defender Tom Lonergan has played without polling a vote. He holds the record for the most games without registering a Brownlow Medal vote.

31
This was the number of votes gathered by Geelong players not named Dangerfield (35) or Selwood (18). Although 11 other players scored votes, only veteran Corey Enright (eight) and mercurial Steven Motlop (six) polled more than three.

Midfielders have long dominated the count, and this year was no exception, but the first key position player on the leaderboard was St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt (yes, we know he played on the wing a lot this season), who polled 19 votes. Remarkably, it was the highest single season tally for the 33-year-old, surpassing the 17 votes he scored in 2004.

Also the number of consecutive seasons Brent Harvey has polled votes in. The North Melbourne champion nabbed his first Brownlow votes in round three 1998 and has polled in every season since. He finished his final season in Kangaroo colours with four votes.
