North Melbourne Football Club has announced the appointment of Cameron Vale as the club’s new Director of Finance.

Vale was secured following the recent decision by the current Chief Financial Officer, Rob Ewart to leave the club.

Cameron has extensive experience as a financial expert within the sports industry having worked in both the AFL and NRL.

North Melbourne Chief Executive Eugene Arocca said the club was thrilled with the appointment.

“We are thrilled with the appointment of Cameron as head of our Finance Department given his solid and extensive experience in both the AFL and NRL,” Arocca said.

“Despite what was clearly a successful stint at Melbourne Storm, Cameron was very keen to get back in to the AFL and, like myself, he sees North Melbourne as an exciting opportunity to make a stand for a very unique football club.”

Cameron first worked in the Sports Industry when he accepted a position as Senior Accountant at the Carlton Football Club in early 2001. In 2003 he was offered the position of Finance Manager at St Kilda Football Club before following Brian Waldron from the Saints across to NRL club Melbourne Storm as the Chief Financial Officer before accepting this position.

Arocca acknowledged the efforts of departing CFO Ewart and wished him all the best in his future career.

“Since coming on board in 2005, Rob has given his all to this club and at times, had to work in what were obviously very difficult circumstances,” Arocca said.

“Despite the loss of two CEOs in 12 months Rob kept the club ticking over financially and has been of enormous help to me over the last two months. Following what has been a significant restructure of the club, Rob decided that it was an appropriate time for him to move on. We wish him all the very best and on behalf of North Melbourne supporters thank him for his efforts.”

Vale is expected to start working at the club in early May.
