GREATER Western Sydney's players had only just finished warming down from their 93-point decimation of Carlton when coach Leon Cameron turned their attention to next week's clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

The Giants belted the Blues to respond to last week's poor loss to Hawthorn at the 'G, but their sixth win of the season will mean little if they fail to beat the Demons next Sunday.

GWS has won just two of their 16 visits to the ground since entering the competition in 2012, and while a lot of those losses came in the club's formative years, the Giants still have only one victory at the MCG since 2014.

GIANTS GO LARGE Full match coverage and stats

Cameron said after the Blues' win that the clash against the Demons is a massive test for his players.

"The biggest thing is we need to learn to compete there a lot better (at the MCG) than we did last week," he said.

"Melbourne was terrific on Friday night against the Eagles, so we've got to remove the (talk about the) MCG and talk about Melbourne.

"Clearly, they're a good team and they gave us a touch up there last year, so we need to bring the effort and the hunt and the defensive pressure to match them.

"I know that the MCG (record) will be built up because of what happened there last week, and until we address that and fix it, there'll be lots more talk about it.

"We're not going to shy away from it, we welcome the challenge and look forward to next Sunday."

The Giants physically monstered the Blues on their home deck on Sunday, especially in the opening quarter, to set the tone for the big win.

But Cameron warned that his players must be ready to bring the same attitude against Melbourne to maintain their winning form.

"We understand that two of our losses have been really poor and while it needs to be driven by our leaders, I as a coach need to take full responsibility for our mental preparation for every game," he said.

GAMEBREAKER There's another Jezza in town

"No doubt we'll talk about that during the week.

"The game is so hard and there's never any easy games, so mentally the stakes have lifted for every team."

Attacking defender Zac Williams (hamstring) could be in doubt to face the Demons after sitting out the second half against Carlton, but Cameron is hopeful that vice-captain Stephen Coniglio (finger), Aidan Corr (ankle) and Zac Langdon (foot) could be available.
