Voss on Sunday’s win over Essendon

“I would take any four points at this point in time.”

“We finished the game poorly. I think once we emotionally felt as though we had gotten the win, we took our bat and ball and that was about it.”

“I don’t know how many times I’ve said it this year, but there are only so many times you can try and sell sunshine without actually getting any. Eventually we had to start getting the four points.”

“We have definitely improved on some key statistics, but all that really matters at the end of the day is what the scoreboard looks like. And unfortunately it hasn’t been favourable for us recently.”

“The fact that the players have emotionally been able to get themselves up and just keep coming is a tremendous reward for them as a group. They’ve been persistently trying to turn things around.”

“They’ve been able to fight their way back from that really big hole they got themselves into. It’s one thing to know that you’re in a hole, but it’s another thing to actually be able to fight your way back out of it.”

“One thing I really admire about the group right now is they have this real want to finish off the season well and with the same style of play we started the season with.”
Voss on Captain Jonathan Brown’s 200th game

“Browny is always going to be dangerous when he’s fresh.”

“He was very good and he could’ve probably kicked a lot more goals. He certainly had plenty of opportunities and gave away some goal assists. I don’t know exactly how many marks he ended up with - but he had plenty.”

“His influence on our team is immense. He makes everyone around him walk taller. The team really looks up to him. He’s our skipper and is an important character for us. You can see when he’s up and going just how formidable he can be as a player.”
“He was a bit disappointed that he couldn’t play last week, so he just wanted to get back out there. He looks a bit sore now, but I’m sure most of our blokes are.”

“We showed a highlight package of him to the team before the game, but Browny’s highlight package goes for a while so we had to condense it down to three minutes. It was more to emphasise the behaviours and actions we’re after out on the field. And you always finish those videos off with the good stuff like a few Browny fist-pumps and the like.”
