Fans will get a glimpse into the future this Friday night when the Brisbane Lions face both Essendon and St Kilda at Etihad Stadium in the opening round of the NAB Cup.

Among the Lions' 29-man squad are five of the new faces at the Club in 2011 - Jared Polec, Patrick Karnezis, Ryan Lester, Josh Green and Rohan Bewick.

In addition, second year forward Bryce Retzlaff and rookies Mitch Golby and Broc McCauley have been named and could potentially line-up for their first official NAB Cup pre-season match in Lions colours.

The Lions will be without their four most experienced players in Captain Jonathan Brown, Simon Black, Luke Power and Brendan Fevola while Jamie Charman, Xavier Clarke, Jed Adcock and Josh Drummond will also miss the Club's first competitive hitout for 2011.
