ESSENDON midfielder David Zaharakis has been suspended for one match for striking West Coast's Jackson Nelson, with the Eagles' medical report playing a key role in the sanction.
Dons ruckman Mark Jamar has also been suspended for one match for striking Eagles defender Jeremy McGovern.
Zaharakis struck Nelson to the stomach – an offence that has typically been punished with a $1000 fine this season – but the MRP look a particularly dim view of the midfielder's actions.
The punch was graded as intentional conduct with medium impact to the body, resulting in a two-match ban, down to one match with an early guilty plea.
The Panel explained it had graded the hit as medium impact because Nelson was helped from the ground and was treated on the bench for a length of time.
An "adverse medical report" from the Eagles also played a key role in the harsh grading.
It is the first of 16 so called 'tummy taps' this season to be punished with suspension.
The Bombers opted not to challenge the suspension so Zaharakis will miss Sunday's clash against St Kilda.
Jamar, who was likely to miss the Saints clash with a hamstring injury anyway, has accepted a one-game ban for his third-quarter strike on McGovern.
The forearm hit was graded intentional conduct with low impact to the head.

Carlton's Dale Thomas accepted a $1500 fine for engaging in rough conduct on Collingwood midfielder James Aish.
Graded as careless conduct with low impact to the head, it was Thomas's second classifiable offence, meaning he will be suspended for one match if he is found guilty a third time.
In Port Adelaide's win over Richmond, Kane Mitchell and Jack Riewoldt were fined $1500 each for wrestling each other, while Justin Westhoff ($1000), Trent Cotchin ($1000) and Jasper Pittard ($1500 for a second offence) were fined for being involved in a melee.
