GREATER Western Sydney has lost star midfielders Tom Scully and Adam Treloar for Saturday's crucial clash with Port Adelaide on the road.
Treloar has been given the week off to rest a persistent groin problem, while Scully could miss the rest of the season after injuring his AC joint against Essendon last Sunday.
Fellow on-baller Stephen Coniglio is also in doubt with concussion after he copped a heavy bump from Bomber Adam Cooney in the final quarter.
GWS coach Leon Cameron said while the news was disappointing, he was confident the Giants had the depth to cover for the injured midfielders.
"It is a big challenge but we feel as though that when players have actually stepped in taken their opportunity through injury or good form, they've stepped up to the mark," Cameron said on Tuesday.
"There's some hungry players as we know at NEAFL level, so there's players there who want to play AFL footy and they want to play it quickly."
"We'll find some really good replacements and we'll take in 22 fit players ready for Saturday's clash."
Defenders Curtly Hampton, Adam Kennedy and Caleb Marchbank, midfielders Jack Steele, Tomas Bugg and versatile key position player Adam Tomlinson loom as possible inclusions for the game against the Power.
While Coniglio remains a chance to take on Port, Cameron revealed that medium-sized defender Matt Buntine is likely to miss at least another fortnight with concussion.
The 21-year-old was knocked out in the Giants' round 16 match against Gold Coast and missed the club's game against Geelong a week later.
He returned to the GWS side in round 18 against Fremantle but received another knock to the head, which ruled him out of last week's clash with Essendon.
The Giants have some concern over the health of the courageous Buntine, who has been a solid defender for the club in 2015.
GWS remain in the hunt for a maiden finals campaign this season but will more than likely need to win at least three of their remaining four games to finish inside the eight.
A loss to Port at Adelaide Oval will put enormous pressure on the Giants, who face the Swans in the Sydney derby the following week at Spotless Stadium.
The experts might not give the young Giants much hope of appearing in finals this year, but according to Cameron, they're already playing them.
"We're going to play in finals every week now," Cameron said.
"We play a final this week against Port Adelaide, we've got one the week after against the Swans, and so on and so on and so on, which is great.
"Did we predict that we were going to be this close at the start of the year? Probably not.
"I think it's fantastic that we now have an opportunity to win some more games and if we're good enough, you'll get in there.
"I heard (Collingwood coach) Nathan Buckley say that the ladder is there for a reason, you end up where you end up."
