Richard Douglas polled the maximum ten votes in the AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) Champion Player of the Year last weekend.

It was the first time in the first nine rounds an Adelaide player has been recognised by both coaches as the best on ground. Simon Goodwin leads Adelaide’s votes with 17 ahead of Andrew McLeod on 13.

In the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, head coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.
