Daisy Thomas on crutches as Pies wait for scans on problem ankle
Collingwood will assess Dale Thomas's problem ankle on Monday
COLLINGWOOD midfielder Dale Thomas has undergone scans after receiving a knock to his troublesome right ankle in the VFL on Saturday.
In his first match since undergoing ankle surgery in May, Thomas came off late in the second quarter as a precaution and was sent for scans.
The 26-year-old, who was on crutches post-match and again on Sunday, will be further assessed at the club's regular medical meeting on Monday.
"We withdrew him from the rest of the match for precautionary reasons and I'm sure he will be assessed on Monday," Collingwood's VFL coach Dale Tapping said on Saturday.
Thomas had four possessions and took two marks against Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval before leaving the ground.
The 26-year-old had surgery on his right ankle late last year and did not play his first game this year until round three.
Soon after his return Thomas began to experience pain in his ankle and following five consecutive games he conceded he needed to rest it.
Thomas becomes a restricted free agent at the end of this season and has been widely linked with Carlton and his former coach Mick Malthouse.
