WITH ALL sorts of excitement crowding the football landscape this week, it's easy to lose sight of the most important piece of information for the weekend.

Richmond is still in the hunt for the finals.

Childhood rivals Joel Bowdon and Andrew McLeod play their 250th and 300th matches respectively – against each other, no less – while Hawk champion Shane Crawford notches his 300th as well.

But Richmond is in the hunt for the finals.

Bowden said on Thursday that still being in contention in August was a nice, if unfamiliar, feeling.

"This week's very important – Adelaide are a good side, we're going over there, and they've got a milestone game which is coincidental," he said.

"Andrew McLeod is a Northern Territory footballer and a guy that I've grown up playing against and I've had a good rapport with, so it's an interesting coincidence to have two territory footballers playing milestone games.

"But if we can get over the line, then that does give us a chance.

"But we'll just have to see how we go – hopefully we can play well, and hopefully the result goes our way, and that'd be really nice, because the last few years, the final portion of the season hasn't been that interesting.

"It'll be nicer to be playing for a chance to play finals football which we haven't done for a while."

Bowden is just 30, and said he would love to go on.

"I back myself to play good footy for the rest of the year, to contribute to the team, and I'd love to do that as long as I possibly can.

"I love playing footy – it's a great occupation and it brings great joy to not only myself and my family, but my friends and the supporters.

"The last four weeks – obviously we lost on the weekend, but the three before that, it was an enjoyable time.

"I haven't played in an overly-successful side, but I believe the team that we've got now is starting to get some confidence and play some good footy, and I honestly believe that I can contribute – week in, week out – to that success.

"I don't know how long that means I'm staying here, but I'm certainly keen to keep playing."
