HAWTHORN midfielder Mitch Hallahan has been named to make his AFL debut against Geelong on Easter Monday but Norm Smith medallist Brian Lake will have to wait another week to play his first game of 2014.
Lake has played just one VFL match since completing his three-game suspension carried over from last year's Grand Final and the club suggested he would need more match fitness before an AFL return.
Hallahan, the VFL's reigning J.J. Liston Trophy winner, was drafted at No.38 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft and undergone a long apprenticeship with the Box Hill Hawks before finally earning his chance.
Meanwhile, Jed Anderson was withdrawn from the Hawks' extended squad after failing a fitness test on his injured shoulder on Saturday morning.
He was replaced by mid-sized defender Jordan Kelly in the Hawks' 25-man squad.
Geelong has made just one change to last week's team with the injured Josh Caddy replaced by Jackson Sherringham.
CARLTON has left small forward Jeff Garlett out for the second successive week as the club searches for its first win of 2014 against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Garlett was named on the extended bench on Thursday but he failed to make the final 22 for the clash with the Dogs.
However, the Blues will be bolstered by the return of midfielder Chris Judd, who has been named to play his first game of the season, and Jarrad Waite at full-forward - who was dumped for last week's match.
Midfielder Tom Bell has also been recalled while MichaelJamison (leg), Troy Menzel (hamstring) and Nick Graham (omitted) arethe players out of the side which lost to Melbourne.
The Western Bulldogs, who lose suspended defender Dale Morris, have named first-year midfielder Marcus Bontempelli for his debut game.
Dynamic forward Luke Dahlhaus comes into the Dogs' line-up and Michael Talia also returns.
Tom Boyd,Greater Western Sydney's No.1 pick from last year's draft, will also make his debut.
Boydhas been named at full-forward alongside Giants star goalkicker,Jeremy Cameron. Devon Smith and Zac Williams are the other ins for GWS.
The Giants have lost experienced defender Heath Shaw to a hamstring injury, with Jacob Townsend and Liam Sumner dropped.
Gold Coast forward Brandon Matera returns from suspension forSunday's clash against Merlbourne, replacing Clay Cameron, who has ashoulder injury.
The Demons made alate change to their squad on Friday following a calf injury to Dean Kent. Neville Jetta comes into the team with ShannonByrnes, Jimmy Toumpas and Jack Fitzpatrick named as emergencies.
West Coast, meanwhile, has dropped five players for its clash against Port Adelaide on Saturday night to welcome back key players including captain Darren Glass and midfielders Luke Shuey, Matt Rosa and Chris Masten.
Mark Hutchings has also been named, with the axe falling on Sam Butler, Will Schofield, Pat McGinnity, Scott Lycett and Brant Colledge.
Port Adelaide made one change, with All Australian Chad Wingard replacing injured defender Jack Hombsch (hamstring).
Essendon has been strengthened for its clash against St Kilda on Saturday night, with Paul Chapman, Patrick Ryder, David Myers and Dustin Fletcher all returning from injury.
Star Brendon Goddard will miss, however, with a groin injury. Jason Winderlich has been rested, while Travis Colyer and Dylan van Unen have been omitted.
The Saints have made five changes after their 86-point loss Adelaide, dropping Shane Savage, Beau Maister and Billy Longer and losing injured pair David Armitage (leg) and Nathan Wright (leg).
The Sydney Swans have named rookie Jake Lloyd to make his debut against Fremantle at the SCG on Saturday, with Brandon Jack and Craig Bird returning.
The club has run out of patience with struggling Norm Smith medallist Ryan O'Keefe, however, dropping the 33-year-old along with Gary Rohan. Tom Mitchell will miss with an ankle injury.
Fremantle has made two changes, with Nat Fyfe and Chris Mayne replacing Hayden Crozier and Josh Simpson, who have both been omitted.
Collingwood has named an unchanged line-up for its clash against North Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, with North Melbourne replacing Robin Nahas with Daniel Currie, who was a late withdrawal last week.
Midfielder Jack Ziebell remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Adelaide key forward Tom Lynch will play his first game for the season against Greater Western Sydney on Sunday after the Crows dumped Brodie Martin.
Richmond made just one change for Thursday night's match against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba, with out-of-sorts forward Ty Vickery the casualty and Ricky Petterd returning.
Meanwhile, the Lions will unleash another debutant as one of three changes to the team that was trounced by Port Adelaide last week - key defender Darcy Gardiner, taken at No.22 in last year's draft, will be the sixth Lion to play his first game in 2014.
He joins former Tiger Luke McGuane, who will play his first game for the Lions since transferring from Punt Road, and recalled midfielder Ryan Lester.
