FREMANTLE has recorded an operating profit of $763,775 for the 2015 financial year, a result in line with the club's expectations.

The Dockers announced their 13th consecutive financial year profit on Thursday.

Fremantle president Steve Harris told the club's website that the Dockers were well placed as they continued to press towards a move to the club's new administration and training facility under construction at Cockburn Central West in Perth's southern suburbs.

"Given our top of the ladder finish in 2015, the commercial opportunities in staging two home finals and merchandise sales stemming from Nat Fyfe's Brownlow Medal success, the operating profit is in line with our expectations," Harris said.

"By achieving this result, the club was able to invest, advance and meet obligations in key financial areas, including maintaining our investment in football operations and strategic projects.

"The fact that the club is able to consistently record an operating profit is also critical to our continued efforts to build reserves to fund our new elite training and administration facility at Cockburn Central West."

The club has also received $1.058 million in development funding for the facility. The AFL contributed $1 million of the funding while the rest was generated from the newly created Fremantle Dockers Foundation.

The foundation was established in 2015 with the aim of helping secure funding for the Dockers' new training facility as well as other parts of the business.

There was some unease in the WA football community earlier this week regarding the future financial model of the game in WA at all levels following the announcement of Stadium Australia Operations as the state government's preferred operator for the new Perth Stadium.

Harris said he was confident of the Dockers' financial future in spite of some of the challenges that lie ahead.

"Despite the future uncertainty that exists within the industry over club funding allocations from the AFL for season 2017 and beyond, the club remains confident of its ability to remain financially stable and successful due to the tremendous and vital support from our members, corporate partners and sponsors," Harris said.

The Dockers are planning to move from Fremantle Oval to the new training facility in March 2017.
