Forward Chris Knights was a standout for the Eagles in round 17 of the SANFL on the weekend.
Playing mainly on a wing in the big win over West Adelaide, Knights had 21 kicks, 17 handballs and 13 marks and finished with a goal. His work rate all day was at a high standard.
Luke Thompson had a standout defensive game for the Eagles and had the best of three different opponents during the game. He finished with 13 possessions, seven marks and was strong in the air throughout the game and was rarely beaten in a contest.
Jarryd Lyons was one of Glenelg’s best players in their important win over Port Magpies on Saturday.
Playing mainly across half forward and occasionally on the ball, Lyons had 15 kicks, six handballs, five marks and a goal. His skills were clean all day and showed good offensive run.
James Sellar had 10 possessions for the Tigers and played his role well mainly as a forward. He had a good attack on the contest throughout the game and kicked an important goal late in the game.
Ivan Maric was good for the Magpies with 17 hitouts, 16 possessions and a goal, while he also had four goal assists. His marking around the ground was good and he read the play well.
In Norwood’s win over South Adelaide on Sunday at Noarlunga, Taylor Walker had 15 possessions and six marks for the Redlegs. He started slowly up forward but gained more possession when moved into the midfield.
For the Panthers, Myke Cook played at half back and produced a strong defensive performance. He finished with 12 possessions and three marks and the execution of his ball use was good.
In the SANFL reserves, Aidan Riley was a guest player with West Adelaide’s reserves while Sturt had the bye. He played with a great attitude and his ball use and offensive running was strong, finishing with 24 possessions.
Brodie Martin also played as a guest with South Adelaide reserves across half back and on the ball. His disposal was at a high standard and he played with good aggression, finishing with 28 possessions.
Will Young played at centre half forward for Norwood’s reserves finished with two goals from 11 marks and 18 possessions.
James Craig continued his comeback from injury with North Adelaide and was solid in the ruck with 27 hitouts, while rookie Lachlan Roach had 14 possessions for the Roosters. Jake von Bertouch (Eagles) kicked one goal from 16 possessions and five marks.
